We reach out to our local and regional communities with arts participation and education that is fulfilling and life enhancing.

Theatre facts

The Roses Theatre Trust was formed in 1995 and re-opened the theatre in 1996 after a nine-month long closed period when the theatre might have been lost.

The Theatre is a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee.

The Roses was built in 1974 on the site of the art deco Sabrina Cinema.

The Board of nine Trustees is responsible for the overall governance of the organisation, which is managed by the Theatre Director and a
professional team of staff.

Ushering, programme and ice cream selling is done by an army of over 50 volunteers – we are always looking for more! Click here to become a volunteer.

The stage is proscenium arch with a full fly tower.

The cinema screen is housed in the fly tower and is lowered on winches for screenings

The auditorium has Dolby surround sound.

The Roses Theatre enjoys the support of over 1700 Friends of the theatre, the first one of whom was Pam Ayres.

The live programme encompasses a wide range of touring music, drama, children’s theatre, dance, opera, ballet and comedy, culminating in the spectacular annual family pantomime.

The Roses Theatre is the main independent film theatre between
Birmingham and Bristol, with a prestigious programme of British and
International films.

‘We believe the artistic experience can stir the deepest emotions, unleash the strongest laughter, challenge ideas, stimulate thought, create a spellbinding magic, and evoke a profound sense of exhilaration. Through this experience our lives are immeasurably enriched.’
