Eric Morecambe

The famous comic legend Eric Morecambe gave his last performance at The Roses on 27 May 1984 in a well received show hosted by his friend and comedian Stan Stennett. Morecambe’s wife was in the audience.  After his final curtain call he returned to his dressing room, where he collapsed with what was believed to be his third heart attack. Morecambe was rushed to Cheltenham General Hospital, where he died in the early hours of the following morning.

The Roses has remembered Eric Morecambe’s life by naming the conference room after him. The Eric Morecambe room is regularly used for meetings, craft activities, and rehearsals, as well for the wardrobe for The Roses' annual pantomime.
