Al Blethyn’s work is hugely varied. Hardly surprising, after 35 years freelancing in the sometimes crazy world of graphic design and advertising. But, on this occasion, he’s restricted himself to just a few themes. The majority of the work is in pastels, although you’ll also discover mixed media images rendered in gouache, acrylics, artist inks and even professional markers.
Steve Parker’s paintings and drawings represent a life-long love of history and landscape. He works quickly, using a variety of media with charcoal and acrylics, hoping to express his response to each location via marks and brushstrokes. Over 40 years in design and advertising taught him to work quickly, capturing the ‘sense of place’ rather than a strict representation. The selection of figure studies come from life classes attended over many years.
