The Roses is pleased to announce that film director Simon Hunter will be attending a screening of his acclaimed drama Edie, on Monday 18 June at 7.30pm, to talk about the production of the film and working with veteran actress Sheila Hancock.
In the film, which premiered at the Edinburgh Film Festival, the 84-year-old actress delivers one of the best performances of her career as the recently widowed Edie who is ready for one last challenge. While her family make plans for her to move into a retirement home, Edie, now free of her controlling husband, runs away to the rugged beauty of the Scottish Highlands where she plans to climb a mountain and rekindle some of the magic of her youth.
Hancock not only climbed the mountain herself whist filming, but also cycled, rowed and camped out with the film crew in an inspiring and fiercely committed performance.
As well as being introduced by the director, there will also be a Q&A session with him after the screening on Monday 18 June. Edie is also showing on Sunday 17 June at 7.30pm, Tuesday 19 June at 11.15am and Thursday 21 June at 2pm (which is a subtitled screening).
