Mint Mosaic
Local Mosaic Artist Says it with Flowers!
Local mosaic artist, Karen Wones of Mint Mosaics, has recently completed
a piece of work to hang in the foyer of the theatre.
The image of the iconic Rose has been beautifully pieced together using Venetian Glass to create a head turning addition to the Theatre’s heritage. Karen works on a variety of projects including teaching mosaic workshops in different art centres and working in schools. She specialises in converting commercial logos into mosaic artwork, working mainly from her home-based studio near Winchcombe.
One of Karen’s recent projects is a large piece of mosaic artwork for Gloucester Rugby Club’s new stand which the club is thrilled with. More poignantly, Karen was one of the privileged artists to be invited to create two pieces of work to be sent out to Australia. These pieces now form part of a large memorial mosaic at the Australia Zoo, Queensland, as a tribute to the late Steve Irwin, the “Crocodile Hunter”.
We would like to thank The Tewkesbury Handyman Centre for
generously supplying materials for the Roses Theatre Mosaic.
