Get Creative Co-ordinator

Part of The Roses’ new participatory and community department, Get Creative, this dynamic and varied role will develop and deliver The Roses’ ambitious vision for creativity in the community.

The Get Creative Co-ordinator will work alongside the Get Creative Producer to develop and manage the Roses participatory and community programme, including Roses Young Creatives, weekly creative groups and sessions, our volunteer programme and Tewkesbury Culture, a network of cultural organisations and individuals that work together to offer greater access to culture for residents in the borough.

Contract type: 1 year fixed term initially, with the aim of transferring to permanent in 2023

Responsibilities

Get Creative and Tewkesbury Culture 

  • To support The Roses’ Director and Get Creative Producer develop and deliver the Get Creative strategy 
  • Liaise with established and new partners that support the delivery and excellence of the Get Creative department
  • To administrate Tewkesbury Culture Network and Communications including support on:  organising meetings, working on development of network of partners and communications with new and existing members. Liaising on communications with Get Creative Producer and supporting social media comms plan and activity
  • Manage and facilitate weekly daytime creative sessions and clubs
  • To develop content that engages established and new participants

Roses Young Creatives 

  • To administrate and co-ordinate all aspects of the Roses Young Creatives 
  • To ensure The Roses is up-to-date with good practice in delivering activities to young people 
  • To ensure The Roses Young Creatives is a fully accessible programme and to be aware and engaged with national conversations around accessibility and diversity
  • To ensure The Roses is fully compliant with the law regarding working with children and young people 
  • Support the marketing and communications alongside the marketing team and GC Producer 
  • Manage correspondence with RYC members, parents and carers
  • Facilitate sessions where necessary and liaise with Get Creative Producer on one-off events or visiting artist sessions 

Volunteer Management

  • To manage The Roses Volunteer Scheme (RVS) including recruitment and induction of volunteers, communication with volunteers and rotas 
  • To ensure the RVS is following best practice, working with our partners to continuously improve the scheme
  • To administrate and manage the volunteer management system (VMS) with support from the Front of House Supervisor and Get Creative Producer 
  • To create and publish the volunteer rotas on the VMS, based on the needs of the live and film programme
  • To co-ordinate and deliver the volunteer benefits scheme and regular events with support from the Front of House Manager and Get Creative Producer 

Continuous Improvement 

  • Support and contribute to a culture of high performance, innovation and continuous improvement 
  • Promote and foster a culture of information sharing and collaborative working 
  • Keep in touch with best practice and any updates as relevant to the role 
  • Manage own learning and continuous professional development relevant to the role 
  • Keep in touch with developments in the sector and develop and manage own network of fundraising professionals
  • In all matters, to operate in accordance with the Company’s employment, health & safety, diversity, safeguarding and other practices, policies and procedures.
  • To undertake any other duties that are consistent with the purpose of the job or may be required. The role needs a flexible approach to working with some evenings and weekends required. 


Person Specification

Required Experience and abilities

  • Excellent team player, providing a consistent level of care and responsiveness 
  • A proven track record of engaging communities in events and activities 
  • Experience working and connecting with organisations, services and communities 
  • Able to learn quickly, respond proactively to challenges and maintain enthusiasm to support local people to make change
  • Hard-working, reliable and organised, able to manage a varied and challenging workload and work well both as part of a team and alone
  • Excellent people and communication skills

Desirable Experience

  • Experience of working with young people in a cultural or educational environment 
  • Experience of managing volunteers or stewards, ideally in a cultural or theatre environment 
  • Interested in supporting creative individuals’ environments and organisations to grow and develop
  • This job specification reflects the core activities of the post and is subject to change and development as the theatre develops its programme, services and customer offers. Therefore, we expect the post holder to adopt a flexible approach to their role. 


Terms

Hours: Full time

Salary: £23,000

Holidays: 28 days per year (inclusive of bank holidays) 

Contract type: 1 year Fixed term contract (with the potential of permanent)

Probation: 3 months

Notice period: 1 month

Type of working: Most of the work will be in Tewkesbury as this is where the activity and groups take place, but we are open to a flexible way of working and are open to a hybrid working from home and at The Roses model.

We have allotted Monday 15th and Tuesday 16th August for interviews, but we appreciate that this may not suit people with children or holiday commitments; therefore when you apply please let us know if there are other days you would prefer, and we will try to accommodate.
