Set in 1988, this intimate character study focuses on a gym teacher who is pushed to the brink when her gay lifestyle comes under threat. With Margaret Thatcher's Conservative government about to pass a law stigmatizing gays and lesbians, Jean is forced to live a double life. As pressure mounts from all sides, the arrival of a new girl at school catalyses a crisis that will challenge Jean to her core.
