About Lord of the Flies... Revisited

To celebrate the 60th anniversary of Peter Brook's adaption of William Golding’s classic novel, we have tracked down some of the cast from the film, who will join us for the screening.

Goldings’s tale of a group of boys who become stranded on a desert island and regress into increasingly savage behaviour is a potent allegory for the dark side of human nature, but how did the experience of working on the film affect its young stars? Join us to find out in what promises to be a very revealing post film Q&A with these 70-year-old schoolboys.

Dir: Peter Brook
Cast:
James Aubrey, Tom Chapin, Hugh Edwards, Tom Gaman, Roger Allen, Simon Surtees, David Surtees

This screening forms part of Cheltenham International Film Festival, which marks its 5th anniversary in 2023. The festival will screen new films from around the world, plus film classics and is adding television, and new live events to its programme, along with guest celebrities.

For all that time has changed the way it fits into the world, Lord Of The Flies remains as important today as it was in 1963
