About Saint Omer
The courtroom drama is reinvented in this riveting debut from documentary maker Alice Diop.
An author attends the trial of a Senegalese immigrant accused of murdering her baby. She hopes it will inspire a modern-day retelling of Medea she is working on. As she listens to the accused, many parallels to her own life come to the fore, causing her to question her relationship with her husband, unborn child and Senegalese mother. Soon, there is more than one person on trial, and the audience is the jury.
