About Under The Fig Trees

In a sun dappled Tunisian orchard, a group of young women gather to harvest the fig crop.

Under the shade of trees, they flirt and gossip, hopes and dreams are shared, advice is given and personal dramas unfold. The trees bear witness to it all, and so do we, as a patiently observant camera and wonderfully naturalistic performances create the feeling of eavesdropping on their most intimate secrets.

Unfolding over the course of one day, this captivating drama explores universal experiences of first love, female solidarity and societal pressures with the same deft hand that is needed to harvest perfectly ripe fruit.
