We are delighted to announce our Cinema Focus Group is taking place on Fri 23 Feb at The Roses Theatre, 10.00am-1.00pm.

In response to The Roses’ projector breaking before the Christmas period, and in light of changes in consumer behavior towards cinema, the aim of the focus group is to understand if and how the charity could create a more sustainable business model for cinema.

We’re deeply committed to preserving Tewkesbury’s rich cinema heritage dating back to the 20th century and it’s critical that, whatever the outcome, The Roses moves forward with a plan that best serves the community.

We’re looking for a range of people to ensure it’s a balanced conversation. Whether you watch cinema at The Roses regularly, or perhaps do but somewhere else, we invite you to have your say on the future of cinema at The Roses.

Jess Brewster at The Roses Theatre said, “The cinema landscape has had a number of knocks over the last few years with Covid-19 being its biggest blow; resulting in major challenges in the cinema industry with two national chains entering administration last year. What once played a pivotal role in cinema income at The Roses, is sadly now making a £9,000 a year loss. We are really looking forward to meeting the community at the focus group and hearing their thoughts on cinema as we are dedicated to keeping Tewkesbury’s cinema heritage alive.

Attendees can expect an introduction from Jess and a tour of the venue, before guided discussions begin.
