
Costume Supervisor (Pantomime)

The Roses Theatre is seeking an experienced and proactive Costume Supervisor to join the team for our 2026 pantomime production of Sleeping Beauty.
Working closely with the Director and Production Designer, you will take responsibility for delivering the costume design vision from concept through to opening night.
8 adult cast members with multiple costumes
12 young people with multiple costumes (alternating cast of 6).
Total costume budget is £12,000.
This is a hands-on role requiring both creative and practical expertise. You will oversee the sourcing, hiring, making and fitting of costumes, ensuring that all costume elements are delivered on time, on budget and to a professional standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with the Production Designer and Director to realise the costume design for Sleeping Beauty
- Source, pull, hire and purchase costume pieces as required
- Construct, alter and finish costumes where appropriate
- Where making capacity exceeds personal availability, coordinate external makers and costume specialists to deliver required pieces
- Manage the costume budget and maintain accurate expenditure records
- Organise costume fittings and alterations
- Create and maintain costume plots, paperwork and dressing track documentation
- Brief and handover to a Show Dresser
- Support technical and dress rehearsals, ensuring costumes are performance-ready
- At least one costumer per cast member (eight) must be complete by 22 Nov for a publicity performance.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous professional experience as a Costume Supervisor, Senior Costume Maker or equivalent role
- Strong costume construction and alteration skills
- Experience sourcing and hiring costumes from professional costume houses
- Excellent organisational and budget management skills
- Ability to manage makers and dresser pre-handover
- Strong communication and collaborative working skills
- Ability to work to tight production deadlines
Desirable
- Experience working on pantomime or large-scale family productions
- Established network of costume makers and suppliers
- Experience managing costume departments within producing theatres
