Tewkesbury’s Big Weekend is set to open with a vibrant celebration as The Roses Theatre marks its 50th anniversary with a free outdoor 70s-themed street party on Fri 16 May.
Taking place from 6.00pm to 10.30pm, the event promises an evening of nostalgia, music, and community spirit. Local residents and visitors alike are invited to wear their flares and sequins for a night that pays tribute to five decades of entertainment and cultural significance.
The street party will feature live performances from popular local bands including Kickback, Groove Jacks and XL5, all delivering crowd-pleasing hits from the era. A 70s disco will round off the evening, encouraging attendees to keep dancing long after the bands have played their final notes.
“We’re absolutely delighted to welcome everyone to our street party as we celebrate 50 amazing years of arts, theatre, and community,” said Jessica Brewster, Director of The Roses. “It’s a special opportunity for our whole community to come together, enjoy music, disco, and make lasting memories—there really will be something for everyone!”
An outdoor bar and food stalls will help fuel the fun, with a variety of snacks and drinks available throughout the night. Admission is free, though we encourage party-goers to arrive early as space is limited.
The event marks the start of a weekend full of activities planned across Tewkesbury, as the town comes together to celebrate its rich arts and cultural heritage.
