News Story

Following the success of our brand-new theatre-making programme in 2025, Inspire returns this year, expanding to work with two local schools.

Launched last year, Inspire is a creative theatre-making programme designed specifically for students with special educational needs (SEN). Delivered in partnership with Milestone School, the programme created a safe, supportive space where young people could explore creativity, confidence and connection through theatre.

This year, we are delighted to welcome Alderman Knight School alongside Milestone School. Over 10 weeks, 20 students will take part in weekly sessions exploring drama, movement and non-verbal storytelling. Led by returning creative practitioner Sam Strachan alongside our Children and Young People (CYP) team, participants will develop confidence, emotional literacy and teamwork through creative play and collaboration.

Georgia Shire, CYP Producer, says:

'We’re delighted to welcome Milestone School and Alderman Knight School this year, building on the great success of Inspire last year. Keep an eye out for updates as we continue this exciting journey.'

By March, students will show growing confidence and independence, stronger social connections and a real sense of pride and achievement. The creative techniques they develop through Inspire will continue to support them beyond the programme, spilling into everyday life at school and home.

The programme will culminate in two co-created performances on Mon 23 Mar, celebrating the courage, creativity and individuality of students from both schools.

Help Us Keep Inspire Free

Inspire is currently unfunded and fully subsidised by The Roses including the provision of accessible transport, ensuring that every young person can take part without barriers. To keep this life-changing programme running, we need your support.

If you’d like to help fund Inspire for next year, please consider making a donation or email grace.end@rosestheatre.org to find out how you can attend the final performance.
