We are is delighted to announce the completion of two significant upgrades to the building: the installation of solar panels and new air conditioning.
As part of our 2026 sustainability vision, we’ve invested in solar panels to reduce our carbon footprint and generate our own renewable energy. This is a big step forward in our commitment to operating responsibly, cutting waste and doing our part to protect the environment — all while keeping our business future-focused.
And there’s even better news for our guests! The Upstairs Bar is now fully air-conditioned, making it a comfortable and enjoyable space all year round. After successfully installing blinds last year through the Barnwood Grant, we’re delighted to have taken the next step. With the Rural England Prosperity Fund through the support of the Tewkesbury Borough Council, the new air conditioning ensures a cooler, more relaxing experience for everyone.
Derek Bond, Artistic Director and Chief Executive, says:
'We are thrilled to have been able to install solar panels and air conditioning in our upstairs bar. The solar panels will reduce our electricity consumption from the grid by around 40%. The air conditioning provides an energy-efficient way to keep our upstairs bar accessible to all, in all weathers. These improvements help us to be more sustainable, both environmentally and financially, and make sure we can deliver even more fantastic experiences for our audiences.'
Whether you’re joining us for a drink, an event, or a celebration, our Upstairs Bar has never been better — greener, cooler and more comfortable than ever. You can check out our Upstairs Bar for refreshments during our shows and cinema or you can book a table at The Roses Kitchen before any live show, book here.
Looking ahead, The Roses Theatre aims to install air conditioning in the auditorium, subject to securing future funding. Anyone wishing to support this next stage of improvement can donate here.
