Emma Parkinson
Memory Cafe She/herEmma Parkinson is an Artist, Facilitator and Arts Charity Community Representative with a passion for exploring the role of creativity in health and wellbeing.
She began her career in design before working as an Art Director in art publishing, later completing an Illustration MA with a specialism in creative health and wellbeing.
Emma’s practice often uses memory boxes and objects to spark conversations, connect audiences, and inspire participatory art activities. She has experience facilitating Dementia Memory Cafés, care home sessions, and community workshops, using the arts to foster connection and reflection.
Her recent exhibition combined collage and cyanotypes to explore dementia through the visual metaphor of water. The installation featured memory-inspired artworks alongside bespoke memory boxes, hand-dyed silk, and soundscapes, immersing visitors in an evocative sensory experience.
In addition to her MA, Emma has completed training in Dementia Awareness, Nostalgia Therapy, and Journaling for Wellbeing. She has also volunteered with local art charities, gaining extensive experience of working with diverse communities across Gloucestershire.
Emma continues to develop her own art practice while championing the value of creativity for health and wellbeing. She is committed to making the visual arts accessible and meaningful for people of all ages and abilities.
