A bittersweet comedy about the dangers of being admired too late

Willem Dafoe is on impressive form as an ageing civil servant who once published a slim volume of poetry long forgotten by everyone, including himself. When a group of young bohemians led by the enigmatic Gloria (Greta Lee) rediscover his work and hail him as a neglected genius, he is swept into their world of salons, self‑importance and artistic posturing. As he confronts the gap between who he was and who they want him to be, the film becomes a witty, gently melancholic study of ego, longing and the perils of second chances.
