About RYC Summer School

A week of creative discovery this summer!

Drama, singing, dance, music, pilates, circus, crafts and more!

Led by professional theatre-makers, guest artists and our resident RYC team! Whether you're stepping on stage for the first time or already a budding creative, there's something at The Roses for you.

Whether you're completely new to performance or already love being creative, this is a chance to try things out, create friendships, and spend a week doing something different. Participant will have the opportunity to showcase some of their work from the week to families and friends on the Friday afternoon.

What To Expect

Every child will have the chance to try the below activities over the course of the week.

ActingLed by our in-house RYC practitioners, Florrie Taylor and Mat Grimes, these sessions focus on expanding techniques, developing characters and working as an ensemble through physical theatre, improvisation and script.
Musical TheatreSing your heart out and dance till you can't stop! With experience in large-scale productions and ensemble casts across the UK, Joe Birch-Scanlan brings real industry insight into being a triple threat.
Songwriting & Music ProductionWrite, record and produce your own track with a Birmingham based creative practitioner, Sam Stachan is a songwriter, performer and teacher who regularly works with young people in schools and arts settings, supporting them to create their own music and express themselves.
AerialAn introduction to hoop and silks from Cirque du Dance, an established circus company in Gloucestershire offering classes, workshops and performances for all ages. Combining strength, creativity and movement in a safe and supportive environment.
Contemporary DanceSpend the day with 2Faced Dance exploring thrilling lifts, dynamic partner work, and powerful contemporary dance techniques. Working alongside professional dancers, you'll build strength, trust, and confidence while learning exciting new skills and creating movement together.
Arts & CraftsGet creative on 29th July with a day of feel good craft sessions, featuring a mixture of crafts for all ages and abilities. There's no pressure to make a masterpiece, just join in on the fun.
PilatesFor when mid week energy need replenishing, dedicated Pilates instructor Nicky's Workouts focuses on building strength, flexibility and confidence, helping people feel more at ease in their bodies through her supportive and accessible practice.
Stage CombatStage Combat. Want to learn how to fake a fight for Stage and Theatre? Join a workshop with Lucy Wordsworth, an experienced Actor, Fight Director and Teacher who has worked on projects for Marvel, HBO and Netflix. Gain skills, tricks and maybe learn how to use a sword or two...
