Since launching in 2022, Roses Young Creatives (RYC) has gone from strength to strength, with our annual productions showcasing the incredible talent and confidence of our young performers. This year, around 80 children and young people aged 4–18 took part in an outstanding programme of five productions.

The year began with the annual February Showcase, featuring three original performances. Beginners, Juniors and Intermediates took audiences on an imaginative journey with Down the Rabbit Hole, while Seniors presented An Evening Of…. RYC Company also impressed with Something Out of Nothing, a production they co-created and choreographed themselves, demonstrating the creativity and leadership fostered within the programme.

This year also welcomed new leadership, with Florrie Taylor appointed as RYC Leader and Mat Grimes as RYC Assistant. Both bring a wealth of professional experience to the programme. Florrie trained at the École Internationale Jacques Lecoq in Paris and holds an MA in Theatre Practice from the University of Exeter. She runs her own theatre company, BRILLIG, and has performed at venues including the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Exeter Northcott, Theatre Royal Plymouth and Cheltenham's Everyman Theatre. Mat graduated from Performers College in 2025 and now works as a freelance director and producer, specialising in projects that support emerging artists.

For the first time, RYC staged two summer productions. The Adventure of Peter Pan's Shadow, performed by Minis, Beginners, Juniors and Intermediates, gave children aged 4–11 the chance to shine on stage. One audience member commented: "All the children performed wonderfully and you could see their confidence increasing."

Older members, aged 12–18, wowed audiences with The Addams Family Musical Young@Part®. The production received glowing praise, with one audience member saying: "That was superb. The best amateur production I've ever seen. It looked completely professional."

Florrie Taylor, Roses Young Creatives Leader, says:

"At Roses Young Creatives, we want every young person to feel that they belong, have the confidence to express themselves and discover what they're capable of. This year has been a wonderful celebration of that, with every member bringing something unique to our productions. Seeing them shine on stage has been a real privilege.”
