Jesse Benns
Described by Paul Jones (Manfred Man, The Blues Band, BBC Radio 2) as "The most watchable musician I've ever seen," Jesse has been playing percussion professionally for most of his adult life. Although now best known for regularly collaborating with UK Blues Award winner Trevor Babajack Steger and making up half of the acoustic powerhouse duo Thrown Together, in many ways Jesse's musical journey began by working as a technician and support act for The Phil Beer Band, working closely with Steve Crickett and the band on all their tours from 2015 -2020.
Having grown up in Tewkesbury, Jesse knew Steve in various capacities his entire life. Whether it was Steve helping Jesse assemble his first drumkit at 13 years old, serving him one of his first pints at the Roses Bar or laughing and exchanging nerdy drum knowledge late into the night at a Best Western Hotel following a Phil Beer Band show, Steve has always been close to Jesse's heart and he is honoured to be involved in this memorial show.
