About Colours of Time

Distant relatives discover a shared past and a lost masterpiece in this time hopping story of art and ancestry.

Four estranged cousins meet for the first time when they inherit a crumbling Normandy farmhouse. While exploring its forgotten rooms they uncover letters and photographs that transport them—literally and emotionally—back to 1895 Paris. As they retrace the steps of their ancestor Adèle, a young woman who crossed paths with Monet, Victor Hugo and Sarah Bernhardt, witnessing the rise of photography and the birth of impressionism, their perspectives on life begin to shift.

Weaving together present-day introspection with Belle Epoque era art and revolution, director Cédric Klapisch (The Spanish Apartment trilogy) constructs a witty and visually resplendent time-travelling drama, brought to the screen with a superb ensemble cast.
