About Derek vs Derek

Two farmers. Two visions. One piece of countryside.

In the idyllic Devon countryside, two neighbouring farmers share more than a boundary: they are both called Derek. But that's where the similarities end. Derek Banbury is committed to intensive dairy farming, while Derek Gow has taken a radically different approach, allowing his land to return to nature through rewilding. As their opposing philosophies collide, fences, tempers and livestock are put to the test. James Dawson's funny and revealing documentary turns a very British neighbourly dispute into a bigger question about farming, food production and the future of the countryside. With wildlife flourishing on one side and traditional agriculture continuing on the other, the two Dereks embody an increasingly urgent debate about how we use the land.
