About Monthly Creative Memory Cafe
The Memory Cafe is run by Roses Team members & volunteers who have all had Dementia Awareness training and have a warm and welcoming manner.
Who is the Memory Cafe for:
- People with a Dementia
- Carers of people with a Dementia
What we do during the cafe:
- We share a cup of tea or two and cake and get to know each other
- We have a games tables, with dominos, connect 4 and cards for people to access and play with our volunteers
- We have a creative facilitator, Emma, who offers an easy and fun activity for those that want to take part, you can take your creative makes home with you if you like
- We listen to music and share our memories about the monthly theme, often nature, the outdoors or our hobbies
We don't require people to have a formal diagnosis to attend our memory cafe, it's a friendly social group and often people come along to get to know us or find out whether it's right for them.
We unfortunately can't host large groups from Care homes. If you are a care home and would like to work with the Roses on creative programmes or workshops, please reach out to our Community Wellbeing Producer Megan; megan.dunford@rosestheatre.org
There is no need to book, or any cost involved but we welcome donations to help us to continue this work.
This is a social activity, and we will aim to sign post you as best we can if you are looking for more information on local Dementia Support services. Occasionally we will be joined by external partners to offer an extra creative or support element to the sessions.
If you would like more information please contact Megan, megan.dunford@rosestheatre.org
This partnership programme has been generously funded by The NHS ICB Health & Wellbeing Grants programme. We are very grateful to the teams them for their ongoing support.
